Trapping is an act that is done by a trap operator with the intent to kill another player. Traps can be made to target specific players, or they can be made to kill at random. Trapping is one of the largest non-player dangers for players in Legendary Hardcore.

Fall Trapping

Fall Trapping is an act that is done to places where player activity is concentrated, especially in tunnels or corners, where a player is either pushed into or the floor is moved with pistons to make the player fall into a trap, which is supposed to kill the player. The typical form of this trap is a long hole surrounded by some kind of interactable block to prevent players from using items to save the player, with buttons or signs placed in the hole to further prevent using items.

A Nether Portal trap that uses End Crystals.

Typical kinds of Fall Traps

There are two standard kinds of fall traps.

In the first kind of fall trap, the trap is intended to kill the player instantly. This kind of trap may not work on players using a Totem of Undying.

In the second kind of fall trap, there is a kill chamber at the bottom in where the operator of the trap will attack the player's feet through a small gap made through slabs. This type of trap is significantly more effective than the first kind, as it forces the player to use many totems to avoid death.

Effectivity

Fall traps are not considered that effective, especially when there is no operator present. Fall traps pose the largest threat to new players. It is very important to look out for abnormal holes in terrain, random pieces of string on the floor, or to look before one jumps.

Explosive Trapping

Explosive Trapping is an act that is done to methods of transportation with the intent to harm or kill a player, through the use of an explosive. There are many different forms of traps, and they can be created on many different forms of transport, such as Nether Portals, Ender Pearl Stasis Chambers, Ice Boat Highways, Tunnels, and even simple terrain.

Types of Explosives

The act of trapping is typically done with some form of explosive, such an End Crystal, Minecart with TNT, or in rarer cases, TNT.

Frequency

Explosive Trapping is the most common type of trap on Legendary Hardcore, and is most commonly done on Nether Portals.
