The Egg Hunt was a major server-wide search for the Dragon Egg. While the Dragon Egg was presumed to have been lost or missing since February 2025, the Egg Hunt refers specifically to a period of investigation between the 31st of December 2025 and the 11th of January 2025. The Egg Hunt concluded on the 11th of January when the Dragon Egg was discovered by deerjammer.

The end was freed by lukasisgoated, LUKASISALOSER and ta7zz on the 22nd of February 2025 several hours after the server launched. Upon attempting to retrieve the egg, LUKASISALOSER accidentally hit the egg causing it to teleport above and to fall into the portal. The Egg returned to the Overworld's origin at X:0, Y:0 and was collected by Yehomere, who was nearby when the group panicked and revealed in chat what had happened.
Yehomere buried the Dragon Egg in a chest and initially agreed to return it to lukasisgoated. However, a misunderstanding with coordinates led lukasisgoated and LUKASISNOTALOSER to the wrong location and the pair announced their intention to kill Yehomere. lukasisgoated arrived at the correct coordinates shortly after but was unable to find the Egg and was ambushed by Yehomere moments after their arrival. Yehomere, now intending to keep the Egg following the dispute, attempted to retrieve the Egg but was also unable to find it. Yehomere assumed that a member of lukasisgoated's group had betrayed them and stolen the Egg, and lukasisgoated suspected Yehomere of withholding the Egg from them. Further confusion was created several days later when Yehomere shared a hoax video of the Dragon Egg being destroyed in lava.
Yehomere was killed on the 17th December 2025 and their player head was retrieved by Thridz, who themselves died to void damage in the End several hours later. Until August 2025 it was assumed by a significant proportion of the community that the Dragon Egg was in Thridz's possession at time of their death. However, on the 9th of August 2025 SquirrelMC located and successfully retrieved Thridz's head from the void, and with it Yehomere's head. But neither Yehomere or Thridz's ender chests contained the Dragon Egg.
Yehomere's Notes
On the 11th of December 2025 Yehomere revealed their own notes and theories on the mystery of the Dragon Egg. This included previously undisclosed details of the planned handover and suspected players who could have possibly retrieved the Dragon Egg before Yehomere or lukasisgoated. These suspects included jake276493, BossCoww, dsfjj and MCraftDaVinci, though admins later denied involvement or possession of the Dragon Egg.
Critically, Yehomere revealed the location of the planned trade to be within 200 blocks of of X:500, Z:0 with a Z value between 0 and -300. They also detailed that the chest had been buried under a birch tree.
ShyAlly's Search
ShyAlly began excavating an area around X:500, Z:0 at some point in late December 2025, but eventually gave up believing that the egg had been destroyed. Using their admin account, foot1221, they located the egg- eliminating ShyAlly from the hunt, but confirming that the Dragon Egg still existed and was not in a dead or living player's possession. An announcement was made on the 31st of December 2025 by Yehomere and ShyAlly beginning the Egg Hunt.
"We have updates on the dragon egg. The admins (foot) FINALLY located it after 9 months of it being MIA. We won't tell you how, where, or the long, silent history that its experienced, but we can confirm it is currently up for grabs at this very moment. It was never destroyed. It is not in a player inventory or echest, someone can literally just take it if they happen across it. That is, you can be the only (and last) player in LHC history to have all achievements. Happy new years, and happy hunting" - Announcement made by Yehomere on the 31st of December 2025.
The Hunt
The announcement attracted the attention of many members of the community who were eager to find the Dragon Egg. In additional to information from the announcement, foot1221 revealed that the egg was within the original 200,000 by 200,000 world border. Unable to participate in the hunt, ShyAlly began and finished construction of The Pumpkin Pyramid during the hunt, covering their original excavation site.
Search Areas
The primary region of focus for many players during the Egg Hunt was in the birch forest surrounding X:500, Y:0 as revealed in Yehomere's Notes, though searches also extended across other biomes in the Spawn Region.
Cryptic messages from Smartercob, who died in May 2025, claimed that the Dragon Egg was buried beneath a 'pale oak, [...] buried high with the egg', that it was 'near a warm ocean that flourishes with coral near the middle of it' and also made mention of a mangrove forest. This attracted the attention of some Egg Hunters, but was eventually found to be a hoax.
Search Methods
Various search methods were employed by hunters, including digging the blocks directly beneath birch trees, tunnelling and trenching as well as excavating large areas through both dirt and stone. These methods of hunting significantly and permanently altered the terrain around Spawn.
Discovery of the Dragon Egg
On the 11th of January 2025, deerjammer located the Dragon Egg at the base of The Pumpkin Pyramid. deerjammer initially opted to keep their discovery hidden and used a bundle to store the Egg to prevent triggering the 'The Next Generation' advancement. Several hours later after surviving a brush with death, deerjammer decided to reveal that they had discovered and were in possession of the Dragon Egg.

A total of 15 clues were revealed by foot1221 during the Egg Hunt.
2nd of January 2025
"I will give one half hint. A lot of people have been focusing on who took the egg, which is obviously a critical piece of the puzzle so good job, but I haven't heard much discussion about "Why has nobody found it yet?" And I don't just mean since new years. LHC has had over 15,000 unique joins now. An annoyingly high number of these people use xray (and then get banned)... and yet no xrayer ever found it. Why not?"
6th of January 2025
foot1221 reveals the closest a player had got to the Dragon Egg on each day since the hunt began. The distance was calculated only on horizontal (X/Z) axes, and did not account for vertical distance.

foot1221 revealed two new clues and a reminder of those previously revealed on the 9th of January, two days before the Egg was located.
- "The admins (including Yehomere) didn't know where it was until I found it."
- "Yehomere did leave the egg in a chest at spawn, and he never saw it again."
- "The Egg has not been moved in 9+ months"
- "The admins would not give out these hints without the permission of the player who we believe put the egg where it currently is."
- "The egg is located in the overworld, not a player's inventory / ender chest. It is within the old world border, radius 100k. It may or may not be in a bundle, shulkerbox, or another kind of container -- but it's out there in some form"
- "The egg is BELOW sea level. To be exact, its Y cordinate is equal to Y=63 or less"
- "ShyAlly figured out the correct theory and general location and did an extensive search for it."
