The Debris Compass is the diamond pickaxe crafted by R077A6r1an in his early days, which he took with him on his complete journey, used it to clear entire nether biomes' 15-17 Y levels for finding netherite, and finally ended up killing R077A6r1an.
Origin
After R077A6r1an more than 35k blocks out, he joined Legion Of Conquerors and got told that his base is too near to spawn, and that he must get at least 150k blocks away. Since he travelled up to now only through overworld, he knew he gonna need to pearl through bedrock, in order to get up to nether roof and travel these long distances to a new base location. With this task, he knew that his next step will be to mine diamonds to be able to craft the Debris Compass.
Roran mined under the floor of his hut straight down, placing ladders over him, until he found a cave with a mineshaft. He entered the mineshaft, mined from the first diamond vein all diamonds out, climbed the ladder up again, and closed with oak planks the floor of his small hut again. After using this temporary mine, only to get the diamonds for the Debris Compass, Roran crafted the item.
In the following day, Roran travelled from his hut about 1k blocks back from his current base location to a village with a big lava puddle in it's center. He converted with a water bucket the complete puddle to obsidian, and spend multiple in game days to mine with Debris Compass all the obsidian blocks. After finishing, he could create his nether portal, pearl up to nether roof, travel back to his hut and create a nether roof portal next to it. From now on, Roran could pack all his stuff together and run with his horse to his next base location.
The early Netherite Mining
After Roran has built his new base, his next goal was to establish an ancient debris mine, to upgrade his gear to netherite. In the nether, he mined staircases down to Y level 15, and began mining around chunk borders in the hope to find debris. In total, Roran only mined out a few debris, and but began crafting his first netherite ingot. For the next days, Roran focused on continue building around his base instead of mining debris, also because Roran didnt had yet any access to netherite upgrade smithing templates.
The Netherite Age
Maybe a week later, Roran invited Jaw2Slay to join him at his base after Jaw lost his base. At this time, Roran was still walking around in diamond gear while Jaw was full stacked with netherite armor and silence trim. To protect his new basemate, Jaw gave Roran a netherite template, which Roran used to craft 2 templates, and use it, together with his first netherite ingot, to upgrade Debris Compass to netherite. Additionally he maxed it out with Mending, Unbreaking 3 and Efficiency 5 using enchantments from his villagers.
Beginning from here, Roran spend alot of his time in his debris mine. Because of the extended duration and the faster mining capability, Roran began to carve out the complete chunk rather than mining just at chunk borders, in the hope to yield more netherite. Over time, he cleared over his entire time at that mine entire chunk's 15-17 Y levels out, mining only around blackstone, gravel and lava, using only Debris Compass, and continuing in developing better strategies for mining. At the peak times of Rorans netherite age, he entered his debris mine with Debris Compass, 1-2 stacks of XP bottles and 9 shulker boxes, to collect all blocks mined by Debris Compass, and beeing able to keep mining for hours, without needing to return to his base to repair his pickaxe.
In this age, Roran filled more than 50 single chests of netherrack, together with one and a half shulker of quarz, several stacks of gold ingots and 2 blocks of netherite. With it, a huge labyrinth is left back, spanning all nether biomes, including the delta balsat at it's entry, of unkown total size. It is big enough, that running to a netherrack wall for continue mining debris requires a few minutes of running between random gravel and blackstone columns, and getting back up requires time intensive searching for the exit while running a couple of times in a circle, making Roran to stasis back out of this mine to not get lost. It was about 99% only carved out by Debris Compass.
Also in mid of this age, Roran renamed on his anivl that pickaxe to Debris Compass as a reference for the pickaxe's work to find debris.
The Netherite age, and with it the most active times of Debris Compass, ended in early June with the death of Jaw2Slay, followed by R077A6r1an moving out of their base and leaving the netherite mine behind.
The Netherite Mine II
After Roran moved into his new base, he established a new netherite mine, trying to get again a new debris mine. He started mining with Debris Compass another time in the style of his first debris mine, collecting shulkers of netherrack again. But with all the work to establish his new base, he did never got to reproduce a mine of the scaling as at his first base. Instead, Debris Compass assisted there casually to mine alot of quarz, but not finding much more ancient debris.
Killing of Roran
On 23rd June, R077A6r1an wanted to sell to Erock04 2 and a half shulker of quarz, which ofc has been mined using Debris Compass. For this, Roran flew in advance in spawn direction, assuming somewhere there he could later meet up with Erock04 to complete the deal. Because Roran actually never flies in this direction, he spontaneously decided to fly instead to the End with the plan to beat alone the Ender Dragon, and later log back to the End and trade there with Erock04. Roran assumed he would be alone, since it was outside of peak hours. However, during the fight, Roran double poped, only replaced his main-hand totem, and forgot to replace his offhand totem. He did not noticed this error during the followed distraction when he saw TippyChannel921 appearing and fighting together with him. After Roran could identify TippyChannel921 and felt safe again, Roran greeted him and landed on top of the cage of the last remaining end crystal. Roran mined through the cage from the top one iron bars out using Debris Compass, and hit the crystal while still holding Debris Compass. Due to not having a totem neither in offhand, nor in main hand, wearing no blast protection, and the previous damage Roran already had, he instantly died with the death message: R077A6r1an was blown up by R077A6r1an using [Debris Compass], ending Rorans journey of 10 days and 10 hours (250 hours in-game playtime).
Legacy
After Roran died, Debris Compass was inherited to TippyChannel921. R077A6r1an mined in total more than 120k netherrack blocks, using Debris Compass, which is more than half the total blocks Roran mined in his complete journey. Additionally it leaves back 2 mines of debris, and the kill message of R077A6r1an, which had brought a broader attention to this item on the server.
