The current world borders for the Overworld and Nether were implemented on May 30th, 2025[1]. Previously, the borders were respectively 100k and 12.5k. The End was increased from 50k to 100k at the same time, but the current border for the End was established on December 26th, 2025.[2]

The Overworld border is 500,000 blocks out from 0,0, making the world 1,000,000 by 1,000,000.

The Nether border is 62,500 blocks out from 0,0, making the dimension 125,000 by 125,000.

The End border is 150,000 blocks out from 0,0, making the dimension 300,000 by 300,000.

Notable Incidents

As of writing, 4 players are officially credited as having died from leaving the worldborder: Pineapplefish1, grpp, AaronTheCoderYT, and BasicMechanics.

Pineapplefish1 and Grpp were members of the Church of the Poppy and the first 2 players to die by leaving the worldborder. They were adventuring in the End using ShyAlly's End Highway, the Shyway. Using a boat, they crossed the worldborder out of curiosity. Pineapplefish1 died first, and grpp died trying to get her items. Both died on September 22nd, 2025.[3][4]

AaronTheCoderYT

A blatant alt of .AaronTheCoder, he was teleported into the worldborder by ThowanOP and died with under 3 minutes of playtime on January 4th, 2026.[5]

BasicMechanics

A longtime player with over 8 days of playtime, BasicMechanics chose to leave the confines of the world on June 3rd, 2026, and let himself die, stating he was "too old for Minecraft."[6]
