Support bases for newcomers (also known as "Grames") are bases built with the aim of providing resources and shelter during the first few nights for new players.

Definition
Support bases for newcomers are typically constructed within a 10,000 block radius of Spawn, intended to supply basic resources and protection for fresh players. They are usually built by more experienced, veteran players, though they can occasionally be put together by newer players as well. Commonly, they feature crop fields (often carrots or melons), chests stocked with starter items, and, more rarely, villagers and basic farms.

Functionality
There is no numerical data confirming that these bases actually increase the average survival rate of new players. Nevertheless, they do tend to at least ease the early-game experience for many, allowing them to avoid worrying about securing food and initial resources that would otherwise take up more time.
Architecture
Generally speaking, the outposts built around spawn for newcomers fall into three architectural styles: some operate as walled compounds for greater protection; others take the form of towers, making them visible from a greater distance; and a few are built underground, while these are harder to find without prior knowledge of their coordinates, they can hold more valuable resources with less risk of griefing.
Examples of Bases and Outposts
Examples of smaller bases and outposts include an underground shelter built by BloodyOrphan, known as "Newbie Base." In addition, some bases that were originally used as early starter bases but later abandoned have been repurposed into support points for new players, such as BambooTown. Other outposts scattered around spawn include Dreamland Castle, Pig Island, Sale Island, Kapimzin's Tower, Emuser's Pit Stop, the PsiRobot Outposts, among others. Likewise, a series of towers built along the spawn perimeter by Flamethrower98 are worth mentioning, one of which was famously featured in YouTuber Zvelid's very first video.
On a smaller scale, the Hive Org also planted carrot farms roughly every 500 blocks, specifically intended to provide a steady supply of food to newly arrived players.

Cities for Beginners
Beyond small bases and outposts, entire cities have also been built with the express purpose of welcoming and equipping newcomers. Due to their greater infrastructure, these cities typically feature a larger variety and quantity of crops, basic farms such as iron farms, XP farms, mob traps, and villager trading hubs, along with the added benefit of social interaction among players. On the downside, however, they become prime targets for player killers. Unlike outposts and smaller bases, which are, as a rule, short stopping points where players spend only a few nights before moving on, these cities tend to host newcomers for extended periods, with many ultimately settling there permanently. Notable examples of such cities include Bridgetown, Porto Seguro, 7Arkington, and Port Newton.
