The Napa Lines are a series of geoglyphs located in a desert north of the Spawn Region.
Description
The Napa Lines are located at the boundary between badlands and a desert, and depict various zoomorphic figures carrying weapons. The species that the glyphs were created to represent may be reptilian or canine, with all figures having tails and snouts. Some figures include other features such as forked tongues, serpentine form and ears. The Napa Lines were created by displacing sand between the two adjacent biomes- with red sand from the badlands brought across to the desert, and sand from the desert placed in the badlands. The use of contrasting sand enables lines and forms to be created on the ground. Most of the figures are not fully visible from the surface and are instead best viewed from above- either by elytra, or from nearby hills. Additionally, the Napa Lines can be viewed on minimaps.
The Napa Lines are comprised of a total of 11 glyphs- with five located in badlands and six in desert. The separation of figures across the biome boundary and the depiction of weapons may indicate that the ground impressions represents a battle between two opposing sides. The weapons the figures are depicted holding include swords, trident, bows and potions. One figure appears to feature a barbed tail, while another has wings. The glyphs vary in orientation and size, with the largest glyph spanning over 80 blocks and the smallest just 20.
Discovery
The earliest mention of sand art in the region was made by Not_A_Griefer in March 2026, but it is very likely that other players visited the Napa Lines prior to this. In late June 2026, natonite found the Napa Lines while flying over the region and recorded the glyphs across 40 maps.
Origins
It is unclear when or by whom the Napa Lines were created. A large badlands hill at the centre of the area contains a tomb honouring Napa0, from which the landmark takes its name.
"Here lies Napa0, good neighbour and friend
Passed away on Nov 24, 2025 after falling over 100m"
- Sign from inside Napa0's tomb
The most probable creator of the Napa Lines is SiOtter, who is thought to have lived with or nearby Napa0. The Napa Lines may have been created to respect the passing of Napa0
